I was pleased to see that local talent had been used in the principal roles as so often, amateur societies who present grand opera import professional or semi-professional performers to fill the main roles.
This chorus gave a good account of themselves, entering fully into the spirit of the performance, developing some good individual characterisations. Singing was of a good standard with a fine balance of voices, it also had power and projection.
Principals had been well cast and characterised and gave a good account of themselves. All the comedy was brought out and in particular the entry of Dulcamara on what I call a 'Singapore Taxi' certainly had impact – Congratulations on an enjoyable opera.
